Qualification

A Chek Practitioner is a specialist in Corrective Exercise and High-performance Kinesiology, developed by Paul Chek, head of the world renowned Chek Institute.  To become a Chek professional one is trained in assessment techniques and individualized application of exercise and exercise programs. The higher the level completed, the more practical knowledge and experience one will have, particularly in complex orthopedic conditions. A Chek Holistic Lifestyle Coach is also a specialist in wellness, stress management and lifestyle coaching.

A Chek qualification takes a professional personal trainer to a higher level of understanding of the functions and dysfunctions of the human body.

The main focus of a Chek-trained professional is not only working with individuals suffering from existing injuries, pain or health roadblocks, but also working with anyone who has a goal and prioritize their programs to include high level assessments so as to prevent injury. An injury is a certain hurdle for any athlete or person aiming to excel in their sport, fitness or lifestyle goals.

The Chek program has one of the most complete assessment system in the world of fitness and wellness, including the assessment of posture, length tension relationships, movement screening, biomechanics, nutritional and lifestyle screening, hormonal, emotional and spiritual factors, spinal pathologies and upper cervical anomalies. In all cases this should be done before an injury occurs.

The approach used is identifying what the problem is then strategizing and hitting the problem from multiple angles, rather than just using one tool or one system. The body is a system of multiple systems and must be approached as such.

A Chek-qualified practitioner possesses expert knowledge of both how the body moves and responds when it is out of balance and how it moves and responds when it is in balance and they are generally considered to be the best qualified personal trainers in the world, having undergone training far beyond the highest recognised standards regarding personal trainers.

So they understand exactly what lifestyle and nutritional changes, stretches, exercise programmes and other therapies are required to bring a body back into a state of equilibrium.

To become a Chek-coach one must commit to extensive continuing education and it can take several years to learn and a lifetime to master.

I am currently in the third year of my three-year training. I have set myself the goal of reaching level 5, which could take several more years, as this training is very profound. The highest level is the “Master Chek Professional”.
